RAFUSE, Helen Sweet – 94 of Brooklyn, Hants County, NS, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2024, in Windsor Elms Village where she had been a long-time resident. Born in Brooklyn on February 4, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Hilda (Caldwell) Watson. Helen lived in Brooklyn her entire life until moving to Windsor Elms Village. Though she held several jobs in earlier years, she spent most of her life as a busy homemaker. She enjoyed sewing and needlepoint, reading, gardening, cooking and preserving. Her pickles and preserves were family favourites. Helen and her husband, Graham, participated in ballroom dancing for many years and were active members of their local club. She also enjoyed playing bridge, swimming at “the lake”, and she adored her cats. Helen is survived by her niece, Nancy Bond, Walton, two grand nieces and two great-grand nephews. Besides her parents, Helen is predeceased by her devoted husband of 50 years, Graham; her brother Harry and sister-in-law Maxine, and several half siblings. We wish to express our sincere thanks to the staff of Windsor Elms who lovingly cared for Helen over the past years. We are forever grateful for you all. Cremation has taken place. A private burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Helen may be made to the Nova Scotia SPCA or a charity of your choice.
